USPV Women’s Volleyball

“In launching a new league, your experience and expertise in creating the game-day image for our team was invaluable. We needed your excitement and energy to create an experience that would have our fans telling all of their friends to come out to the next game. So, we let you go at it… and, you delivered!”

The United States Professional Volleyball League (USPV) was a women’s professional volleyball league which started in 2002. The league featured the top players in the world, and provided the first professional opportunities for top college graduates to play domestically.

The Chicago Thunder signed Michael, in part, based upon a well known reputation in the sport of volleyball. Michael’s initial task was to help create a ‘model’ for the league in game day operations.

Shortly after the season began, other teams were observing Michael’s work, and incorporating his actions into their home game presentations. Based upon the unparalleled success, Michael was named as the Game Announcer for the season ending League Championships.

As part of an innovative approach, Michael would routinely leave the scorer’s table with a wireless microphone to announce the on-court action while sitting in the stands with the fans. This was a tremendous hit, making fans feel like they were truly a part of the action. Not content with contests during time-outs occurring only on the court, Michael began conducting creative contests surrounded by fans in the upper deck of the stands as well.
